Our Biggest Stewardship Event of the Year

For over 16 years, thousands of volunteers have pitched in on our biggest trail stewardship day of the year, Ridge Trail Service Day.
400+ miles is a lot of trail to care for, and we need your help to keep it in tip-top shape! Show the Ridge Trail some love and join one of the many projects we host around the Bay Area with our park and open space partners.

Grassroots EcologyDescription:
The Ridge Trail is partnering with the Grassroots Ecology for a fun day of trail work at Bear Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve. Activities will include removing invasive plants like French broom by Thimbleberry Trail using weed wrenches, in order to reduce fire fuel loads and increase native biodiversity.Minimum age:
Volunteers must be 12 years or older.Registration Opens Sept. 17

Napa Open Space District and Skyline Wilderness ParkDescription:
The Ridge Trail is partnering with the Napa County Regional Park and Open Space. for a fun day of trail work at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. Activities will include doing some maintenance and improvement work on Spring Trail higher up in the park. This will include cutting back brush and improving sightlines, working on erosion/drainage improvements and repairs, and potentially some treadwork to improve sections of the trail. There is a moderately long hike in to this location, and have options to shuttle some volunteers in. Minimum age: Volunteers must be 14 years or older.Registration Opens September 17

Keep Coyote Creek BeautifulDescription:
The Ridge Trail is partnering with the Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful for a fun day of trail work on Coyote Creek Trail at Olinder Park. Activities will include cleaning up debris from the creek while learning about the natural habitatMinimum age:
All ages welcome. Children under 15 must have a guardian present for the duration of the event.Registration Opens Sept. 17

East Bay Regional Parks District, Bicycle Trails Council of the East BayDescription:
The Ridge Trail is partnering with the East Bay Regional Parks District and the Bicycle Trails Council of the East Bay for a fun day of trail work at Crocket Hills Regional Park. Activities will include improving the tread and drainage on the Soaring Eagle Trail. Some participants may work on a short reroute, or hardening project as well.Minimum age:

The Ridge Trail is partnering with the Land Trust of Napa County for a fun day of trail work at Dunn-Wildlake Preserve. Activities will include enhancing native habitat by removing invasive plant species, including velvet grass and Himalayan blackberry.Minimum age:

Marine Science InsituteDescription:
The Ridge Trail is partnering with the Marine Science Institute for a fun day of trail work at Stevens Creek County Park. In this special edition of an RTSD project, Participants will do a test and evaluate the water to see the health of dissolved oxygen, pH, phosphates, and turbidity. Together we will discuss results and if anything is out of normal, how that can be addressed. After all this, we will do a trash clean up!Minimum age:

Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District and the Trail CenterDescription:
The Ridge Trail is partnering with the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District and the Trail Center for a fun day of trail work at Windy Hill Open Space Preserve. Activities will include minor drainage improvements and restoring trail width by removing vegetation and accumulated soil from the tread surface.Minimum age:
