3.9 Miles
Nearly 4 miles of Ridge Trail were dedicated at the Máyyan ‘Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve on August 30th in partnership with the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority. This stunning new 1,859-acre preserve, co-managed with the Santa Clara County Habitat Agency, protects sensitive habitat while providing over 5 miles of public trails to explore.
Visitors can travel through low grasslands up to the ridgeline for sweeping views of Coyote Valley and beyond. You might catch sight of a herd of tule elk, the threatened Bay checkerspot butterfly, or enjoy brilliant wildflower displays in the spring. Máyyan ‘Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge visitors can enjoy a wide range of accessible experiences, viewing platforms, shade structures, and interpretive displays any time.
A “Butterfly Pass” allows visitors into the sensitive habitat areas that make this preserve so special. This limited access area, which includes the Ridge Trail section, is open 5 days a week (Wednesday to Sunday) to provide a respite for wildlife. Learn more and get your free Butterfly Pass.
