You may recall the opening of Vargas Plateau Regional Park in May 2016, which was quickly followed by its temporary closing. The closure was due to litigation concerning traffic and parking on Vargas and Morrison Canyon Roads, the two roads leading to the park. East Bay Regional Park District and the City of Fremont worked to improve roads leading up to the park, allowed for a re-opening on May 15, 2017. The road to opening Vargas Plateau has been a long one, and now a safe one! After some legal roadblocks, we are happy to report that Vargas Plateau is open to the public—again!
