Super Stroll & Roll on Super Bowl Sunday!

Join Ridge Trail volunteers for the 8th annual Super Stroll & Roll on Sunday, February 12th, 2023! Stroll (walk) or Roll (bike) with the group or go at your own pace. Since all routes take place in San Francisco, participants are able to use public transit or Taxi/Lyft/Uber if they want to depart before the end of the planned route.  Route #1 – The Hail Mary  

Stroll: 9:15am – 4:30pm (14 miles, one-way)

START at the northeast corner of John Daly Blvd and Lake Merced Blvd. From there, we will travel north into San Francisco and moderately walk the entire 13.5-mile SF section of the Ridge Trail from Lake Merced to the Golden Gate Bridge via Twin Peaks, Mt. Sutro, Golden Gate Park, and the Presidio. Dogs are welcome, if they can go the distance!

 Route #2 – Flea Flicker

Stroll: 10:00am – 2:30pm (8 miles, loop) 

START at Golden Gate Park’s Bocce Court, located at Stanyan St & Page St, to hike the heart of SF’s Ridge Trail segment, following both its revised and original routes. We will stroll south through Sutro Forest to Sutro Tower, through the Midtown Terrace neighborhood to Twin Peaks with optional summits up Noe and Eureka Peaks. Then over to Mt. Olympus and Buena Vista Park to return along the Panhandle to Stanyan Edge. Dogs are welcome!

 Route #3 – Quarterback Sneak

Stroll: 10:00am – 12:30pm (4.5 miles, loop) 

START at Golden Gate Park’s Bocce Ball Court located at Stanyan St & Page St, to walk the heart of SF’s Ridge Trail segment, following both its revised and original routes. We will stroll south through Sutro Forest to Sutro Tower, and on to Twin Peaks. Our return to Stanyan Edge will be via Tank Hill and Shrader St. Dogs are welcome! Come early and enjoy some coffee from Flywheel Coffee Roasters adjacent to the bocce ball court.

  Route #4 – Roll to Goal

Roll: 10:00am start time (Up to 15 miles & 1,500′ elevation gain, one-way)

START at the intersection of John Muir Dr and Lake Merced Blvd at the southern tip of Lake Merced. This biking route follows the Ridge Trail alignment across the full length of the city, detouring where necessary to accommodate route closures. Some off-pavement riding around Mt. Sutro could be mixed in, depending on the participant’s bikes. Otherwise, the route will go over Twin Peaks and follow roads through Buena Vista Park and the Panhandle to the Arguello Gate. The ride will end at the Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point near the Round House Cafe. This is a one-way group ride.
