Join Ridge Trail volunteers for the Seventh Annual Super Stroll on Super Bowl Sunday!

NEW this year: we’ve added a bike route for a combined Super Stroll & Roll event! Just like in 2021, we continue encourage physical distancing during the event. Start with us, but stroll or roll at your own pace or with your pod. Since all routes take place in San Francisco, participants are able to use public transit or Lyft/Uber if they need to depart before the end of the planned route.

Details for All Routes:

  • COVID-19 Protocols: To keep this event as safe as possible and to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we require all participants 12 years and over to be fully vaccinated. Please bring and wear a mask. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe!

  • Outing ending times listed below are approximate.
  • All routes are accessible by public transit.
  • Heavy rain may cancel some routes.

 Route #1 – The Hail Mary  

Stroll: 9:00am – 3:30pm (14 miles, point-to-point)

START at the northeast corner of John Daly Blvd and Lake Merced Blvd. From there, we will walk north into San Francisco and moderately walk the entire 13.5-mile SF section of the Ridge Trail from Lake Merced to the Golden Gate Bridge via Twin Peaks, Mt. Sutro, Golden Gate Park, and the Presidio. For those who decide to bail along the way, there are ample opportunities to do so by using MUNI or carshare. Bring water, snacks and lunch. Dogs are welcome, if they can go the distance!

 Route #2 – The Flea Flicker

Stroll: 10:00am – 2:00pm (8 miles, loop) 

START at Golden Gate Park’s Flywheel Coffee Roasters, near Stanyan St & Page St, to hike the heart of SF’s Ridge Trail segment, following both its revised and original routes. We will stroll south through Sutro Forest to Sutro Tower, through the Midtown Terrace neighborhood to Panorama, then back north up the Creeks to Peaks Trail with optional summits up Noe and Eureka Peaks. Then over to Mt. Olympus and Buena Vista Park to return along the Panhandle to Stanyan EdgeBring water, snacks, and lunch. Dogs are welcome!

  Route #3 – Roll to Goal

Roll: 10:00am start time (Up to 15 miles & 1,500′ elevation gain, one-way)

START at the intersection of John Muir Dr and Lake Merced Blvd at the southern tip of Lake Merced.  This biking route follows the Ridge Trail alignment across the full length of the city, detouring where necessary to accommodate route closures.  Some off-pavement riding around Mt. Sutro could be mixed in, depending on participant’s bikes. Otherwise, the route will go over Twin Peaks and follow roads through Buena Vista Park and the Panhandle to the Arguello Gate.  The ride will end at the Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point near the Round House Cafe. Bring a bike, helmet, water, snacks, and layers.
