Sobrante Ridge to San Pablo Reservoir:

Climb to high grasslands and shaded woodlands on a narrow, shady trail.
2.2miles

plus 1.2 miles on connector trail from Pinole Valley Park; 0.7 miles on connector trail from Coach Drive, or about 9 miles one way from Coach Drive to Fernandez Ranch staging area.

DIFFICULTY: Moderate

From: Pinole Valley Park

To: Conestoga Way

Climb to high grasslands and shaded woodlands on a narrow, shady trail from Pinole Valley Park that gains 640 feet in the first mile; on cool days, take the exposed alternate trail from Coach Drive for an easier climb of 200 feet in 0.7 mile. On the wide, partially shaded ridgetop trail, you’ll take in remarkable views of the mountains that ring the bay; the narrow southern leg descends 320 feet in less than a mile. Or, from the Coach Drive connection, head east on Ridge Trail to EBMUD’s rugged Pinole Watershed, and beyond to Fernandez Ranch, dedicated in 2010.

Bicyclists gain access from Coach Drive for 1.2 miles of trail to small loop in Sobrante Ridge Trail, but not permitted between loop and Conestoga Way.
