Samuel P. Taylor State Park to Bolinas Ridge:
Discover some of the most breathtaking vistas the Bay Area has to offer on this fantastic loop. Start under the redwoods at Samuel P. Taylor state park and work your way up to Bolinas Ridge for magnificent views of the ocean, tree-covered ridges, deep canyons, oak-dotted hills, and distant peaks.
Take Sir Francis Drake Boulevard west to Samuel P. Taylor State Park. Park and hike west along the south side of Lagunitas Creek (1.7 miles) to the Jewell Trail. Take a left on the Jewell Trail and climb 0.9 miles up to the Bolinas Ridge Trail, and head south (left). You will be on this Ridge Trail for 3.4 miles, with incredible vistas overlooking the Pacific Ocean to the west.
After 3.4 miles on Bolinas Ridge, take a left onto Shafter Trail and head about 1.2 miles steeply downhill to Lagunitas Creek and the Cross-Marin Trail, which you will hike for about 1.8 miles to return to Samuel P. Taylor.
