    November 4, 2017

Pitch In, Get Dirty, Build Trail and Make Friends! #RidgeTrailDay

Ridge Trail Day is the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council's largest event, with hundreds of volunteers participating around the region! We partner with REI and local land manager to host a volunteer trail work party to build and improve sections of the Ridge Trail - this year we hope to have over 15 work party sites. Registration will be coming in September, but save the date on your calendar now: November 4, 2017!

2016 Ridge Trail Day Re-cap

Over 600 volunteers enjoyed the perfect fall weather and great trail conditions for Ridge Trail Day on Saturday, November 5. Volunteers built new trail, improved eroded tread, hauled tons (literally) of rocks and logs for retaining walls, planted trees, and cleaned up litter—collectively making a huge difference for the trail we love!

REI Co-Op staff brought t-shirts and raffle prizes, and asked everyone to #OptOutside with them on BlackFriday. REI also presented ceremonial checks, which were bigger than usual: this year, REI donated $180,000 to help the Ridge Trail Council build, promote, and steward the trail.
Volunteers like you are essential to the Ridge Trail as we work to connect a 550-mile loop on the ridgelines above San Francisco Bay. Today, 369 miles are open and protected for future generations. See more photos from the day on our Facebook Page:

Thanks to all our event partners and members who support our work to plan, build, and steward the Ridge Trail!
