Your Comments Needed: Help VTA Prioritize the Ridge Trail

The Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority (VTA) is updating their countywide bicycle plan and recently released their public review DRAFT of the plan with an interactive map.

This draft did not categorize a critical Ridge Trail connection from Coyote Meadows (Story Road) to new Berryessa BART (opening 2018) as a priority and we need your comments to change that!

In addition to being Ridge Trail, this is a critical gap in the Coyote Creek Trail and Five Wounds Trail.

Please cut and paste the following comments to bikes@vta.org by midnight Monday, March 19th.

  • The Five Wounds Trail should be NAMED in the plan (it is currently called out as Route 406 – Three Creeks Trail).
  • The Five Wounds Trail (Route 406) and the Coyote Creek Trail (Route 411) between Story Road and the Berryessa BART Station should be upgraded to a PRIORITY trail to be consistent with the plan’s emphasis on transit connection. The Coyote Creek and Five Wounds Trails provide access to Berryessa BART (to open in 2018/19) and Five Wounds Trail connects directly to Alum Rock/28th Street BART station (to open in 2026).
