Moore Creek Park Ridge Trail Open
On Sunday, June 30 the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council dedicated the first section of Ridge Trail along our new Go North route–1.5 miles in the new Moore Creek Regional Park in Napa County! This 673-acre park surrounds beautiful, shaded Moore Creek, a year-round stream, and features diverse habitat ranging from woodlands to chapparal and open grassy hillsides.
Moore Creek Park plays an important role in the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council’s “GoNorth” trail alignment, and offers an exciting opportunity to knit together a string of protected park and land trust properties. The Park will host about 4.7 miles of Ridge Trail anchoring a new route along Napa’s eastern ridgeline, which will eventually connect Lake Hennessey on the south, Calistoga through the Oat Hill Mine Trail to the north, and Bothe Napa State Park to the west.
Volunteers for Outdoor California (V-O-Cal), placed finishing touches on newly built trails on June 29th and 30th. The official ribbon cutting took place on Sunday June 30th. Hikers and cyclists participated in group hikes and rides after the dedication.
Thank you to all our members, donors, and volunteers–and to our Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District partner who made this possible–we're looking forward to making great strides!
