On April 22, 2010, at the California Trails & Greenways Conference in Cambria, two awards of special note for the Ridge Trail were presented--

Ron Brown - Lifetime Achievement Award (Volunteer)

Ron championed the Ridge Trail as a Ridge Trail Board member, early staff member, and as a super volunteer, who in his final year was crucial in organizing the first East Bay Hills Through Hike (held in conjunction with the equestrian ride).  The award is in posthumous recognition for his 25+ years of trailblazing leadership and passionate advocacy for trails. His son accepted the award & spoke eloquently about how much trails meant to Ron, and he encouraged us to take up the challenge.

The Ivan Dickson/Clif Bar Day of Service at Crockett Hills on the Ridge Trail, hosted by the East Bay Regional Park District, was honored as best trail event in 2009.  Over 200 employees from Clif Bar came out to pitch in and have fun building and caring for the Ridge Trail.
